Welcome to CallawayMrs. Lauren Wilson, Principal

CHS Students and Parents,

As we enter the final nine weeks of the school year, there are a few things that I would like for us to be reminded of during this busy time.  First, let me say how proud I am of our students who are working diligently both in the classroom and in extracurricular activities.  Academics are a priority, but we have many students who balance their academics with sports, clubs, and work.  They continue to work hard and keep their grades up, and it's rewarding to see them successful.  As the school year winds down, we only become busier with academics and extracurriculars.  Parents, I encourage you to make sure your students are well-prepared for our spring tests and for finishing their classes with excellent grades.

Two things that I would like for students to work on this nine weeks are tardies and dress code.  Many students hear me encouraging them to hurry to class so that they can learn.  Time in front of the teacher is very important, and even a few minutes late to class can cause students to miss important information.  As our weather turns warmer, I would also like to remind students and parents of our dress code.  On page 31 in the student handbook, our board policy regarding what is and is not appropriate dress for school is listed. Certain areas to be reminded of are:

-Holes in pants above the knee are not allowed.  They must be patched or covered.
-Shorts, skirts, and dresses must meet the fingertip rule length.
-Leggings are not allowed, unless they are covered with a dress, skirt, or shirt that meets the fingertip rule.  Leggings may not be worn without something over them.
-Straps on shirts must be a minimum of 2 inches in width.
-Pants must be worn at the waist.
-Hats are not to be worn inside the building.

Let's make sure that we all abide by the dress code, get to class on time, and do our best in finishing the school year strong in all that we do.

Thank you, and Go Cavs!
