DEADLINE QUICKLY APPROACHING FOR TROUP COUNTY SCHOOLS
AFFIDAVIT OF RESIDENCY
This summer Troup County Schools introduced new
requirements necessary for student registration. Georgia Law and
Troup County Board of Education policy requires that students
attending Troup County Schools must live and reside in Troup
County on a full time basis. Student assignment to schools is
based on the legal residence of the parent or legal guardian.
A thirty (30) day extension was granted to allow families the
opportunity to submit the required documentation. Each school
has worked diligently with families to complete the registration
process; however, as of September 16, 2011 students with
incomplete registration documents will be withdrawn from Troup
County Schools. Parents wishing to complete the student
registration process prior to September 16th should contact
their child’s school.
Required documents for all Troup County Schools students
include:
1. An Affidavit of Residence (
http://www.troup.org/Forms/assignment/Affidavit_of_residency.pdf
) (document must be signed in the presence of a Notary)
2. One item from the following list for address verification:
a. property tax records which indicate the location of the
residence;
b. property deed, mortgage documents or a security deed which
indicates the location of the residence;
c. apartment or home lease or rent receipt indicating the
current address;
d. current utility bill for electricity or utility application
for electricity showing the current address
e. current telephone bill;
3. Current Georgia driver's license (if no current Georgia
driver's license, a current Georgia voter precinct
identification card or other voter documentation indicating the
current address).
